Genre?

What genre shall we decide on then? I'm thinking horror, as we all seem to be the most interested by it and I think from a creative point of view it gives us a lot of scope. However, I do like teen drama, seeing as we will be using teen actors and locations then we need to utilise that... Or somewhere between the two? A teen horror (Blair Witch Project).

  1. I think we should do horror since it will allow us to be more creative with what we are able to make and also it will probably be the most interesting to make, especially when trying to make it scary.

  2. Big yes on teen horror. Makes it more realistic.
And yes, horror's probably best because it means that we'll have a wider range of techniques to try out and fine-tune. Agreed?

  3. To recap, I feel we're definitely coming away from thriller, feeling that it will be the least realistic of the three seeing as we will be using a teen cast, and for me a thriller is all about the action sequence or twist at the end, and I don't think we'd be able to replicate that.

You both like the idea of horror, as do I. The biggest I have is the risk of it becoming too cliched.

However, we haven't explored in much detail the idea of a teen drama. I've been thinking more about this today, and I think that we could actually come up with a good teen drama storyline for the whole film, and create a opening that fits in.

Should we start looking at ideas for whole films, then work backwards?
